An Evening Picnic at The Shire in the Gorge

Join us on 78 acres of picturesque landscape, including lush meadows, trails, scenic waterfront, and an unobstructed view of Multnomah Falls. Learn the story of the Shire founder and designer John Yeon, whose lifelong advocacy was fundamental to the creation of the Gorge as we know it today.
The Shire, The John Yeon Preserve for Landscape Studies in the Columbia River Gorge is sited directly across from Multnomah Falls.
Hosted by PLACE, this special Dine & Design event includes wine from A to Z Winery, a picnic dinner, and views of Multnomah Falls and the Gorge that you can’t see anywhere else. You’ll get to hear more about this incredible place and receive a signed copy of John Cava’s beautiful new hardbound book, Of Barns and Palaces, featuring John Yeon’s residential architecture (a $40 value).

Arrive any time after 4:30 pm. Bring a chair or blanket for the picnic. Kids are welcome. No dogs.
Accessibility Information: The event will be hosted in a location within the Shire that is wheelchair accessible. Parking is near the event location. There is enough personal space to accommodate those with wheelchairs, canes, and walkers. Priority seating can be provided. We welcome requests and questions regarding accessibility via the registration form.
Dine & Design raises money to support the programs of AFO, including our vital Architects in Schools program which serves thousands of elementary students per year around Oregon.
