Fellowship Celebration

You’re invited to our annual celebration of our Van Evera Bailey and Pat Sanchez Women’s Fellows while enjoying refreshments and the AFO community.

Our 2024 VEB Fellow Marta Petteni will present her year-long exploration and findings during her fellowship. Building on her expertise at the intersection of design justice, research, and transportation, Marta conducted research to produce a comprehensive How-to Guide to advance train repurposing as a scalable model for social justice and sustainable development throughout the region.

You will also have a chance to meet our 2025 Fellows. Van Evera Bailey Fellow Rand Pinson will explore ways to elevate the Ice Age Floods National Geologic Trail into a cohesive and impactful national park experience. Pat Sanchez Fellow Molly Jacobs will strengthen her expertise in community engagement and collaborative leadership to organize a participatory workshop, fostering an inclusive and dynamic discussion.

About AFO Fellowships

Van Evera Bailey Fellowship

Since 2001, the Architecture Foundation of Oregon has been privileged to work with The Van Evera and Janet M. Bailey Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation in awarding the $50,000 annual Van Evera Bailey Fellowship to advance the professional development of design and building professionals and encourage greater contributions to their profession and community.

Pat Sanchez Women’s Fellowship

This fellowship is awarded to women who are mid-career and looking to expand upon their work and professional development. The up to $3,000 monetary award can be used to attend professional conferences, local college coursework, or specialty seminars focused on various aspects of the industry including design, firm management, building enclosure design, business development, leadership, etc.
