Portland Scholarship Workshop

AFO Scholarships support future design and building professionals and encourage people from diverse backgrounds to participate in the process of designing and building our world. We currently award six scholarships for students studying design and building professions in Oregon. Learn more about AFO Scholarships.
Attend our info session and workshop to learn more about the following scholarships:
- Hatfield Architectural Award: $5,000 scholarship for undergraduate and graduate architecture students attending University of Oregon or Portland State University who express commitment to community service.
- William Hart Scholarship: $5,000 scholarship for Black, Indigenous, and/or people of color (BIPOC) Master and Bachelor of Architecture students entering their last year at University of Oregon or Portland State University (graduating in 2026).
- Tsagaglalal (She Who Watches) Scholarship: Renewable $10,000 scholarship for non-graduating Indigenous students of U.S. states and territories, pursuing a degree in art or architecture at Portland State University.
- Hermann Colas, Jr. Legacy Scholarship: $5,000 scholarship for Black and Latin(x) undergraduate students pursuing a 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture at an Oregon college or university.
- PAE Diversity in Engineering Scholarship: $5,000 scholarship for undergraduate students marginalized by ethnicity and/or gender, pursuing engineering with a passion for climate justice at an accredited 4-year university in the United States.

What to expect:
You are welcome to attend one or both sessions and don’t need to attend the first to attend the second. Sessions are free and open to eligible scholarship candidates.
VIRTUAL INFO SESSION: Monday, January 27, 5-6pm, Zoom. A chance to learn about AFO scholarships, the application process, and determine your eligibility to apply.
PORTLAND WORKSHOP: Wednesday, February 19, 5:30-7pm, Carleton Hart Architecture, 630 SW 5th Ave #400, Portland, OR 97204. Receive tips on preparing a successful application and feedback on essays, portfolios, work samples, and more.
